Korea's headline finding held up: ChatGPT is still outside the top 10 there (#20 today) while Google Gemini (#6) and Claude (#8) both rank well ahead of it -- and checking all eight regions again, Korea remains the only market where ChatGPT misses the top 10. A nine-day hold is a much stronger claim than a single-day snapshot, and this is now the more citable version of that finding.
The second finding moved, and we're reporting that honestly rather than re-asserting the original claim. Claude no longer charts in exactly three markets -- it just appeared in India's free-chart top 25 for the first time, at #14, while remaining completely absent from Taiwan, Indonesia, and Brazil. On 2026-10-17 at 16:40 UTC we re-pulled the same 8-region App Store free top 25. The Korea finding held for a third time: ChatGPT is still outside the top 10 (#22), while Claude has climbed to #3 and Google Gemini sits at #10, both ahead of it. But "Korea is the only market" no longer holds: in Indonesia, ChatGPT fell from #3 in July to #14, and neither Gemini nor Claude is in Indonesia's top 25. Everywhere else ChatGPT is still top 10: US #4, Japan #3, Taiwan #8, India #2, Brazil #4.
Claude's footprint shifted again. It now charts in the US (#10), Japan (#25), Korea (#3), Taiwan (#14) and Brazil (#23) -- the first time this table has seen it in Taiwan or Brazil -- but India, where it first appeared in August at #14, is out of its top 25 again, and so is Indonesia.
